Parts of Old Nibley farmhouse date back to the late 1600s. All guest rooms are individually styled combining original features with modern comforts. We provide an attentive, thoughtful service to ensure a relaxing visit. Comfort and quality are our main priorities – all double beds are king size; all rooms are centrally heated; have hospitality trays with home made biscuits. Fluffy white towels, dressing gowns, handmade soaps, an ‘emergency toiletries box’ and a hairdryer in every room. Enjoy tea or coffee with cakes in our large garden or courtyard (weather permitting), or in the living room in front of a large open fireplace. Homemade cakes and preserves a speciality of the house. We are committed to providing a good, high quality service, whilst minimising the environmental impact of our activities. To this end we offer our guests the opportunity to support our environmental goals.
Breakfasts are special at Old Nibley Farmhouse. You can look forward to summer fruit compote made with strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackcurrants and cherries. In the autumn it’s made with quince, or pears, and early in the year with rhubarb. Enjoy it along with some homemade cinnamon and hazelnut granola and yoghurt.
For cooked you are offered a choice of butchers sausages and bacon (local) and local farm eggs, along with mushrooms and tomatoes. Sometimes, there’s a special like Eggs Benedict, or for the more adventurous, Huevos Rancheros!
I make a selection of preserves from locally produced or home grown fruit, e.g., strawberry & rose petal jam; blackcurrant jam; apple & blackberry (picked from the back field); peach & rosemary jam and finally marmalade, thin cut or rich, dark, thick cut with a dash of whiskey! We also offer some of the finest tasting juices from the area – Ragmans Lane Farm – Papple (pear and apple, wonderful!) and dry and medium apple juice. If I’ve made your mouths water then come and stay with us and treat your senses to our wonderful breakfasts!
