The accommodation

Lea HouseGarderLea House is the perfect place to relax, and where you’re made to feel really welcome. Set in a small village betwixt the Forest of Dean and the spectacular Wye Valley, it is a 16th Century former coaching inn that has been beautifully refurbished with many exposed oak beams and imaginative décor. The large and comfortable sitting room has an inglenook fireplace where guests can linger in the evening. The house is scattered with many mementoes of your hostess’s travels round the world in her previous working life in the movie industry and there is a charming, walled garden where guests can sit and enjoy the countryside.

Lea HouseGranary bedroomThe pretty bedrooms, which are individually decorated and furnished with antiques, have kingsize or twin beds and en suite showers or full private bathrooms, each having a large selection of toiletries and fluffy towels. The bedrooms have hospitality trays where everything possible is from FairTrade suppliers and fresh filtered drinking water is supplied in carafes.

There is a wealth of activities and places to visit, all within easy reach. We are happy to lend Ordnance Survey maps and suggest sightseeing itineraries, taking in the local beauty spots, historic buildings, country towns and visitor attractions. The world-famous Wye Valley is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You can go trail cycling, canoeing on the Rive Wye, abseiling, 4x4 off-roading, fishing, clay pigeon shooting…

We are delighted for guests to bring their dogs and we have a wealth of wonderful walks in the area. We are a no smoking house.

And for breakfast…

Breakfast roomAA award winnning breakfasts are served by your hostess, whose love of good, locally sourced food is apparent. Everything is freshly cooked so orders from the extensive choices are taken the evening before. To start with there is freshly squeezed orange juice or local apple juice. There are jars of cereals and health store muesli or you can decide on a platter of mixed tropical fruits and some Greek yoghurt. If you would like porridge there is yet another choice – organic jumbo oats or oatmeal! Next there is a choice of flavours of the locally made butcher’s sausages with your “full English” plate and local cured bacon, or you might prefer smoked haddock or kippers. One other choice – how would you like your eggs cooked? There is always a choice of at least two home-made vegetarian alternatives too.

To follow – jams, marmalade, breads – all are homemade, and with a toaster on the sideboard you are free to make your toast just how you like it!

You may well find that you don't even want to think about another meal till the evening!
